NISformance Helical
Limited Slip Differential
In stock, Ready to ship!
This limited slip differential was developed with the help of Mfactory. Mfactory is well known within the automotive field as one of the top differential manufacturers. Through the smooth and constant distribution of power to the wheels, the MFactory Helical LSD puts the power-to-the-ground and maximizes your vehicle's traction. A must for any race car, be it Street, Strip or Track!
NISformance HLSD vs Stock:
Unlike the factory limited slip differential, Ours is engineered with performance driving applications in mind. This results in a limited slip differential that is more effective in its ability to properly distribute torque.
The stock LSD falls short when it comes to properly managing torque. Especially in performance driving applications. We experienced these issues ourselves not only in our own personal street cars but our Maxima drag car as well. At the time, stock was the only option available so we had to put up with it. As many of you have throughout the years.
The main issues that we wanted to address are Torque steer,Total lock up during loss of traction when cornering, and Total lock up during loss of traction when launching. Torque steer is detrimental to driving feel and safety when accelerating. The same can be said for lockup during loss of traction when cornering that causes the car to “push” straight instead of turning. Lockup during launching from a dig results in the car performing a burnout instead of actually being able to get traction in order to launch.
We wanted a limited slip differential that offered daily driveability while eliminating these issues. We wanted something that can be used on the street as well as on track.
Thanks to Mfactory, who were crucial in the development of this product. We were able to achieve this goal. We are extremely proud to offer a quality product that addresses each of these issues.
What benefit does a Limited slip differential offer ?
A limited slip differential offers greater control of power distribution through the drive wheels. Utilizing a quality LSD is critical in any sort of performance front wheel drive application where the drive wheels are also tasked with steering.
As Torsen type LSD's are gear-based and do not rely on “lock” to function, they are smooth in operation and noise-free. In addition, due to not having wearable parts (i.e clutch-discs), they are also maintenance free. Because of this, Torsen type LSD's are generally the best choice for a "streetable LSD" (under normal driving conditions, most would not even notice the LSD is there), yet still offer a good limited-slip experience under spirited driving and/or race conditions.
